New job, New beginnings

Once again I can't seem to maintain this blog, but I'm trying to get better. The only problem I have is that I don't believe that my life is very exciting so....let's see if my words will make it seem more interesting.

Here we go...

I became an aunt again on May 18th to Prestin Grimm Peterson. He is a very handsome little boy that is the exact opposite of his older brother. Prestin is dark haired with what looks like will be brown eyes (he's still too young to know for sure) and Rylee (older brother who will be 3 in August) is very towheaded with very light blue eyes. I was able to fly back to Utah (thanks to my grandparents giving me frequent flyer miles) and help my sister and brother-in-law juggle settling into a new house (they had just moved in when Prestin arrived) a toddler, and driving back and forth to the hospital to do feeding since Prestin decided to come two months early. Let me tell you keeping up with a toddler is very challenging when you aren't used to it and I assume when you are used to it. I am in awe of mothers of toddlers. How do they do it?

Rylee and Prestin

After a week of chasing a toddler and painting said toddler's bedroom for purple with Disney princess banner to bright orange accent wall and closet and gray wall I was exhausted and missing my hubby something terrible. I did have the good fortune to see one of my very close friends from my days at UVU. I had missed girl talk and catching up...

I did get the job I had interview for before I left to Utah. It's a Certified Nursing Assistant position at Life Care Center of Cheyenne. I have done two rotations of clinicals at this facility and it is hands down one of the best facilities I have been in. I start with orientation tomorrow which will be a very long 9 hours of sitting and learning facility policies and ways of the trade. Wish me luck? I'm sure now that I will be working with the elderly I might have funny anecdotes to share.

Valentine's Day

Valentine Day

noun
February 14, observed in honor of St. Valentine as a day for the exchange of valentines and other tokens of affection.

Jalen and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day. We believe that you should show that love to the people you care about all throughout the year, not just on one day. However, I like getting new shiny things so we exchanged gifts anyway.

My gorgeous diamond necklace from my wonderful husband

For Jalen's gift I allowed him to get new parts for one of his guns.

Of course I decorated the house for Valentine's Day. It isn't anything crazy or elaborate but subtle.

I'm excited for March so that I can decorate for St. Patrick's Day which is my favorite holiday. :)

Apparently I lied

I said in my last post that I vowed to do better on updating this blog consistently, well..I lied apparently.

Let me make up for the time missed.

Jalen and I bought a house just shortly after the Tough Mudder in October. It's a three bedroom, two and a half bath house with an unfinished basement. We weren't originally looking to buy a house, but we were at the mall getting a new set of tires put on my car, just killing time and the mall has a booth of a bunch of house flyers. So of course I wanted to look at them for fun. I found the flyer for our house; I turned to Jalen and asked if we could go look at it as a joke. Jalen surprised me by saying yes. Long story short...we made the appointment to look at it that day, we loved it, and two days later we made an offer that was accepted.

Sorry for the mess in the closet and laundry room. These were taken just after we moved in and I hadn't finished putting everything where it was suppose to go.

We moved in on November 16th so that we could be moved in by Thanksgiving. My parents were coming up for Thanksgiving and they didn't know we bought a house. We kept it a secret so that we could surprise them. How did we surprise them, you ask. Well I told my mom to text me when she was on her way to the apartment because we were going to "breakfast". We really just needed to know when they were on their way so we could meet them there. So that went as planned; we met them at the apartment, told them we had a surprise and to follow us. When we got the house they had caught on and were very proud and happy for us. I know, not much of a story....

Thanksgiving went really well for it being the first Thanksgiving that I had to cook.

Christmas was spent with just me and Jalen and our cats. I made ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, and vegetable after Jalen and I had spoiled each other with presents.

I decorated with everything blue and silver. It turned out really well but I'm still trying to get rid of all the glitter from the decorations though.

More later...
